Faith Like a Pitbull: Cling to God Until the Breakthrough Comes
- Maybe ME

Last week, I wrote about how God often steps in when we’ve exhausted all other plans. (Read that here)Then over the weekend, I heard a message that shook me:
“Faith isn’t just what we say — it’s how we hold on when everything’s falling apart.”
It reminded me of something simple but powerful Jesus said:
“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.”— Matthew 17:20
🔑 It’s not the size of your faith — it’s the persistence and quality of that faith.
A mustard seed is tiny, almost invisible. But when planted, it grows into something strong and deeply rooted. Likewise, your faith doesn’t have to be big — but it does have to be alive, growing, and holding on.
✊ Faith That Won’t Quit
Let’s explore some of the people whose small but persistent faith moved Jesus — even when others told them to stop or give up:
🔹 The Bleeding Woman – Pressing Through the Crowd
(Mark 5:25–34) She had suffered 12 years. Rejected, unclean, tired — yet she believed:
“If I just touch His garment…”
That’s mustard seed faith with pitbull persistence. And Jesus said:
“Daughter, your faith has healed you.”
🔹 The Canaanite Mother – Accepting Even Crumbs
(Matthew 15:21–28) Jesus ignored her at first. Then He said healing was for the children — not “dogs.”But she wouldn’t give up:
“Even dogs eat the crumbs from the master’s table.”
Jesus responded:
“Woman, great is your faith!”
🔹 Blind Bartimaeus – Shouting Louder When They Told Him to Stop
(Mark 10:46–52) They told him to be quiet — but he shouted louder:
“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus stopped for him.
➡️ Faith ignored the crowd and reached for healing.
🔹 The Friends Who Tore the Roof Off
(Mark 2:1–12) They couldn’t get through the door — so they made a new entrance through the roof.
“When Jesus saw their faith…” He healed the man.
That’s what living mustard seed faith looks like — it doesn’t give up when blocked.
🔹 The Widow and the Judge – Faith That Wears Heaven Down
(Luke 18:1–8) She wasn’t powerful. She wasn’t connected. But she kept showing up. Jesus said:
“Will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?”
He ended with:
“When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
➡️ Not flashy faith. Persistent faith.
🐾 Faith Like a Pitbull
Mustard seed faith becomes powerful when it refuses to be shaken.
You don’t need a mountain of faith to move a mountain. But your tiny seed must refuse to quit.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23
So:
When it feels like nothing’s working...
When people say “stop asking”...
When doors won’t open...
Lock your jaw like a pit bull and refuse to let go of God.
🔥 Praise Before the Breakthrough
Faith not only holds on — it praises in advance.
Paul and Silas sang before their chains fell (Acts 16:25).
Habakkuk rejoiced when the crops failed (Habakkuk 3:17–18).
Abraham praised God as “the one who calls things that are not as though they were.”
➡️ Praise is mustard seed faith in action.
💡 Final Takeaway:
God is not moved by fancy prayers — but by persistent faith. You don’t need big faith — just real faith that refuses to give up.
Cry out like Bartimaeus.
Push through like the bleeding woman.
Hold on like Jacob: “I will not let You go unless You bless me.” (Genesis 32:26)
No matter how small your faith feels today — plant it, protect it, and press in with it.
